JOB ADVERTISEMENT: SAFETY OFFICER
Position: Safety Officer
Location: Kalumbila
Employment Type: Full-Time
About the Role
We are seeking a proactive and experienced Safety Officer to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for promoting a safe and healthy work environment, ensuring compliance with occupational health and safety regulations, and driving a strong safety culture across the organization.
Key Responsibilities
- Implement, monitor, and maintain occupational health and safety programs.
- Conduct regular workplace inspections and risk assessments.
- Investigate accidents, incidents, and near misses, and prepare detailed reports.
- Develop and implement corrective and preventive action plans.
- Ensure compliance with all applicable health, safety, and environmental regulations.
- Facilitate safety training, toolbox talks, and awareness campaigns.
- Maintain safety records, permits, and documentation.
- Monitor the use of personal protective equipment (PPE) and ensure adherence to safety procedures.
- Liaise with regulatory authorities and participate in safety audits and inspections.
- Promote continuous improvement in workplace safety standards.
Minimum Requirements
- Degree in Occupational Health and Safety, Environmental Health, or a related field.
- Relevant Safety Officer certification/qualification.
- Minimum of 3 years' experience in a health and safety role.
- Sound knowledge of occupational health and safety legislation and best practices.
- Strong investigation, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Added Advantage
- Experience working in the mining industry will be a distinct advantage.
- Knowledge of mining safety regulations and operational environments will be highly desirable.
