Project Manager – IoT Hardware & Deployment

Reports To: Technical Director / CEO

1. Role Purpose

The Project Manager – IoT Hardware & Deployment will lead the end-to-end development, production, assembly, and field deployment of PCB-based IoT sensors for Ecovolt’s solar mini-grid and water systems.

The role bridges electronics engineering, supply chain coordination, field deployment, and technical workforce development, ensuring reliable hardware integration into Ecovolt’s smart energy infrastructure

2. Key Responsibilities

A. PCB Design & Product Development

• Lead schematic capture and PCB layout design.
• Oversee circuit simulation, testing, and iteration.
• Ensure compliance with IoT sensor specifications (power management, communication modules, durability).
• Develop production-ready design files (Gerber, BOM, assembly drawings).

B. Manufacturing & Supply Chain Coordination

• Identify and coordinate PCB fabrication partners (e.g., China-based manufacturers).
• Manage procurement of electronic components.
• Oversee quality assurance prior to shipment.
• Ensure cost optimization and timely production cycles.

C. Assembly & Quality Control

• Supervise local electronics assembly processes.
• Establish testing protocols and QA standards.
• Troubleshoot hardware failures and optimize board performance.

D. Deployment & Systems Integration

• Oversee installation of IoT boards on mini-grids and solar water systems.
• Ensure integration with monitoring platforms and cloud systems.
• Lead fault diagnosis and field performance validation.

E. Training & Supervision

• Design and deliver structured technical training for Electrical Trainees.
• Supervise trainee technicians during assembly and deployment.
• Build internal technical capacity for long-term scalability.

F. Project Management & Reporting

• Develop detailed project timelines and milestones.
• Track hardware production and deployment KPIs.
• Report progress, risks, and mitigation plans to leadership.

3. Required Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical/Electronic Engineering (Minimum)
• Experience in PCB design (Altium, KiCad, Eagle or similar)
• Strong background in electronics prototyping and assembly
• Experience with IoT systems and embedded hardware
• Demonstrated project management experience
• Minimum 5 years relevant experience

4. Technical Competencies

• Schematic capture & PCB layout
• Microcontrollers (ESP32, STM, Arduino or similar)
• Power electronics & solar integration
• Circuit debugging & signal testing
• Supply chain coordination
• Basic cloud/IoT integration knowledge

7. Strategic Importance

This role is central to Ecovolt’s scale strategy of deploying IoT-enabled mini-grids and productive-use energy systems, ensuring technology reliability while building local technical capacity.
