Legal Counsel

AB Bank is looking for suitable candidates to fill the position of Legal Counsel.

• The Legal Counsel will be responsible for managing litigation matters, disputes, and related legal proceedings.

Among other responsibilities, you will be expected to:

• Monitor legislation and regulatory developments, conduct legal research, review procedures, and provide legal opinions and report to the Head of Legal/Company Secretary.
• Draft, review, negotiate, and advise on contracts and other legal documents.
• Provide legal opinions and advice, review policies and procedures, and draft various legal documents as required. 
• Manage litigation matters, disputes, and related legal proceedings. 

Minimum Qualifications and Competencies:

• Minimum 2 years experience in a similar position at a Financial Institution or law firm.
• Law Degree (ZAQA Certification is a must)
• 3 years post admission to the Bar
• Advocate of the High Court for Zambia.
• Adherence to Corporate Governance Tenets.
• Good Communication and Presentation Skills, Orally & Verbally
• Good analytical and critical thinking skills
• Stress Tolerance & good negotiation skills
• Attention to detail and accuracy
• Confidentiality and Integrity
