Eastern Water and Sanitation Company Limited was incorporated as a private company limited by shares, under the Companies Act (Cap 388 of the Laws of Zambia) on 12^th May 2008. The Company’s mission is to uplift the living standards of all our customers through the exceptional provision of safe, adequate and affordable and environmentally friendly water supply and sanitation services to the existing and potential clients in the urban and peri-urban areas of Eastern Province. In order to achieve its mandate Eastern Water and Sanitation Company is advertising for the positionof Assistant Public Relations Officer to be based at head office.

 POSITION TITLE: ASSISTANT PUBLIC RELATIONS OFFICER (GRADE S5- REQUIRED NO. 1) 

REPORTING TO: Public Relations Officer

1.    Purpose of the job

 The position requires a dynamic, self-motivated person with proven Public Relations experience and the ability to work with minimum supervision.

 2.    Key responsibilities

 ·  Assist Plans and implements publicity campaigns using suitable medium in liaison with the Public Relations Officer or Managing Director so as to inform or publicise or disseminate vital information to customers.

·  Assist to Prepare suitable publicity materials so as to sensitise the customers and the public at large about EWSC or specific programs or activities.

·  Assist Organises Company participation in important national events

·  Organises stakeholder meetings and workshops and other community events in respective Business Units in liaison with the Public Relations Officer in order to sensitize customers on aspects of EWSC services and programs

·  Ensuring attainment of customer satisfaction.

· Performance Management -Supervises, appraises, coaches, trains, disciplines and motivates subordinates in order to achieve departmental objectives thereby contribute to achievement of Company objectives and overall EWSC mandate

· Assist to Design and implement the public relations policies and procedures

· Efficiently producing and effectively disseminating approved publicity materials, developing good relationship with customers, stakeholders and the media.

3.    QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

 ·  Grade 12 School Certificate with merit or credit in Mathematics, Science and English

·  Degree Public Relations, Mass Communication or Journalism

· Computer literate – fully conversant with Microsoft Word, Excel and Internet

·  Two (2) years working experience in a similar position

·  Member of Zambia Public Relations Association (ZAPRA)

· Excellent communication skills, proactive and innovative with pleasant personality, able to plan and organize events, good communication skills, humble, polite nature and assertive attitude
